Acorn Productions’ annual Maine Playwrights Festival, a showcase of new work by local dramatists, runs from May 13 through May 17 at St. Lawrence Arts (76 Congress St., Portland). Among the six pieces premiering this year is Michael Kimball’s spacey comedy “Houston” and David Vazdauskas’ “Creation,” in which M.C. Escher returns to life to teach us some new tricks.
