CLASH OF THE TINYS
Round 12: Metal Feathers vs. Spouse
Holy shit! Last week, in a stunner, Huak felled the once-mighty Covered in Bees to advance to the playoffs. And this week, as the initial rounds of Clashes wind down, we pit two titans against each other to see who will join Huak, Dead Man’s Clothes, The RattleSnakes and other winners in post-season action.
Metal Feathers‘ “Fuzzy” kicks off their sophomore album, Contrast Eats the Slimy Green. The foursome is one of the most critically acclaimed and respected bands ever to emerge from the Pine Tree State. Spouse’s “What You’re Feeling” is on what may be the last Spouse album, Confidence, which capped off a decade-long run of excellent releases. Spouse leader Jose Ayerve is pursuing a solo project these days (A Severe Joy), but we bet he’d get the band together for a Clash of the Tinys final. Assuming, that is, his old group can best one of the brightest among the new. It’s on…

About Clash of the Tinys…
Every Friday, The Bollard selects and posts two songs by Maine musicians or bands. You have a week to vote for your favorite using the Polldaddy thingy above. There are also links to hear each song. You can only vote once per poll. We’ll announce each week’s winner in the proceeding poll. Then, early next year, the winning songs will go head to head in a series of sudden-death playoffs, until we’re down to just two. Those two acts will face off live on stage, and then we’ll start another series of Clashes. (If a finalist is a band that is not currently playing shows, the hope is that the prospect of winning this Clash will compel a reunion.)
