The documentary Dawson City: Frozen Time tells the amazing tale of a Gold Rush town in the Canadian Arctic where a trove of silent films from the early 1900s, most thought lost forever, were unearthed by a bulldozer in 1978. It combines haunting footage from those films with the history of the short-lived mining community. It screens at SPACE Gallery (538 Congress St., Portland) at 8 p.m. Tix: $8 (all ages). 828-5600. space538.org. And up the block at the State Theatre (142 High St.), buzz-worthy Brooklyn electro-rock band Grizzly Bear takes the stage at 8 p.m. Tix: $35-$40 (all ages). 800-745-3000. statetheatreportland.com.
