Artists through the ages have strained their brains to imagine what strange supernatural visions alternately tempted and menaced the early Christian holy man Saint Anthony. A new exhibition at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art (245 Maine St., Brunswick), The Temptation of Saint Anthony, presents variations on this theme dating back to the Dark Ages. It opened Dec. 6 and continues through March 12. Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. Free. 725-3275. bowdoin.edu.
