The documentary We Are Twisted Fucking Sister delves into the cross-dressing glitter-metal band’s gritty early years, before MTV made them a household name in 1983. It screens at SPACE Gallery (538 Congress St., Portland) at 7:30 p.m. Tix: $8. 828-5600. space538.org. And over at The Apohadion Theater (107 Hanover St., Portland), indie filmmaker and performer Cory McAbee (The Billy Nayer Show, The American Astronaut) will be appearing as “a singing representative of the Small Star Corporation, a company that urges people to give up their goals, stop reaching for the stars and start looking for the stars within their minds.” It’s all part of a concert-film documentary of sorts, and you may play a part (as yourself) if you show up at 7:30 p.m. Suggested donation: $5-$10 (all ages). corymcabee.com.
