The annual MECA Holiday Sale features art and artsy craft objects by MECA students, staff and alumni, with proceeds benefitting the art school’s programs. It takes place Friday night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and today from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at MECA (522 Congress St., Portland). Free admission. 775-3052. holidaysale.meca.edu. After that, head down to Salvage BBQ (919 Congress St.), where local honky-tonk heroes Big Ass Rooster play their monthly gig, this month with special guest Darien Brahms.
