Now in its 19th year, the From Away festival gives playwrights from all over the globe an opportunity to have excerpts from their work performed (in translation, as necessary) for a Maine audience. This year’s writers are from India, Mongolia and Afghanistan. It starts at 7 p.m. at Portland Stage Company (25A Forest Ave., Portland) and admission is pay-what-you-can. 774-0465. portlandstage.org.
