The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution is an unflinching documentary about the black power movement of the ’60s and ’70s and the Panthers’ central, lightening-rod role in it. Director Stanley Nelson weaves archival footage with commentary by members, critics, and activists who were both. It screens at SPACE Gallery (538 Congress St., Portland) at 7:30 p.m. Tix: $8 (all ages). 828-5600. space538.org.
