Dark Star: H.R. Giger’s World is a fascinating document of the multi-disciplinary artist’s twisted, intricate work and his personal life, which was similarly beset by evil forces prior to his death last year. Renowned for the creatures he created for Ridley Scott’s sci-fi/horror classic Alien, Giger also applied his surreal style to rock and punk albums and many other pursuits. The film shows at SPACE Gallery (538 Congress St., Portland) at 7:30 p.m. Tix: $8 ($6 students). 828-5600. space538.org.
