Writer, politician, provocateur and bon vivant par excellence Gore Vidal lived a life so rich and varied that it seems impossible to adequately capture it between two book covers. In Sympathy for the Devil, author Michael Mewshaw does his damnedest, though, drawing upon four decades of friendship with Vidal.
