Thursday, January 15
Inspired by the recent resurgence of racial civil-rights activism and this month’s celebration of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life, the Portland Public Library (5 Monument Square) is presenting a Civil Rights Film Series in Rines Auditorium every Thursday in January, at 6:30 p.m. Tonight’s film is Ida B. Wells: A Passion for Justice, William Greaves’ documentary about the gate-crashing journalist, suffragist and anti-lynching crusader of America’s post-Reconstruction period. Free admission. 871-1700. portlandlibrary.com.
