Bates professor Rebecca Herzig gives an intriguing lecture today titled “Knowledge Incarnate: Feminism, Science and the Problem of Suffering.” A historian of science, Herzig’s books include Suffering for Science: Reason and Sacrifice in Modern America, and the forthcoming Plucked: A History of Hair Removal in America.
