Maine Blues Festival

It’s hard to have the blues while sippin’ brews by the beautiful waters of Naples, but that’s never stopped the fans who flock to the Maine Blues Festival every year. Scores of acts from near and further on up the road play various venues around town in conjunction with events and attractions like a classic and custom auto “cruise-in,” food and art vendors, and activities to keep the kids blues-free. Shuttle bus service is available for the tipsy or tired. Full schedule and ticket info at mainebluesfestival.com.

St. John’s Bazaar

Unlike the other fests highlighted here this month, the annual carnival known as St. John’s Bazaar, organized by All Saints Parish in Brunswick, isn’t about blues, circus acts, or colored body powder. It’s just a good ol’ town fair, with rides and games and carny food — friendly folks having clean fun. It takes place Fri. from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Sat. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sun. noon to 5 p.m. at 39 Pleasant St., Brunswick.
