Editor’s Note
This issue of The Bollard is dedicated to the memory of my mother, Emilie Busby, and my partner Sarah Bouchard’s grandmother, Rosa Bouchard — two wonderful women who passed away within hours of each other last month.
Rosa raised 11 children in a Millinocket mobile home with the love of her life, the late Bertrand Bouchard. Her boundless energy, sharp French wit, and seemingly bottomless reservoir of love will continue to inspire all the families she brought to life.
Emilie raised two kids, but did so in the tradition of Jewish motherhood, so I felt like I had 11 moms pushing me to be the best person possible. The Bollard would never have existed without her support and influence. I carry on to keep her spirit alive.
Disruptions in our production schedule due to my out-of-state travel last month delayed publication of this issue one week. As a result, we are reverting to our previous publication schedule — issues appearing the first Thursday of the month, rather than the last Thursday of the preceding month — in March, April and May. Our normal publication schedule will resume with the June issue, which hits the streets May 30, and the calendar spreads will be back in that issue, too.
Finally, apologies to all our crossword fanatics for having printed the wrong grid in last month’s issue. A printable version of the correct grid is available here. The puzzles will also return this spring.
Resurgam!
