The Bollard invades Northern Maine
I’m thrilled to announce that this is the first issue of The Bollard being distributed up in Bangor and Orono, as well as in Lewiston/Auburn and Waterville, in addition to our usual distribution area (Bath to Biddeford to Bridgton). Our total statewide circulation has grown by 4,000 copies, and now stands at 20,000.
The Bangor-area expansion is being done in conjunction with our media partners at the Bangor Daily News, who are distributing the issues up there and bringing new advertisers in that market into this publication. We’ve added the other cities as part of an ongoing effort to get The Bollard into every community between Portland and Bangor that will appreciate and benefit from what we have to offer.
My hope is that The Bollard can help bridge the cultural divides between Portland and other Maine municipalities. Portland will continue to be our focus, but as time goes on you can expect to find more stories about people and places in the communities beyond, like Carl Currie’s piece about the Hamlet Pub in East Millinocket. (I hear they also have a few dumps in that neck of the woods we should check out.)
Thanks to the good folks at the BDN for helping us expand, and thanks, as always, to you, our readers, who’ve kept us around for seven-and-a-half years now. We look forward to bringing more of The Bollard to more places in the years to come.
Resurgam!
