CLASH OF THE TINYS

Round 16: The Lomax vs. The McCarthys

So here it is, the final Clash of the initial round of 16 — almost. In Round 15, Darien Brahms and Lady Lamb the Beekeeper tied, forcing a tie-breaker, with different songs, next week. But this week, the last two of the 32 acts face off for your votes.

These two jangly roots-rock groups share the stage tonight at Bayside Bowl, and both are releasing new CDs. “Barely Getting By” is from The Lomax’s new sophomore album, Lomax Redux. “Foolish Heart” is from The McCarthys’ third effort, The Way Life Is, which is also being officially released this evening.

Following the Brahms/Spralto tiebreaker next week, it’s on to the playoffs. Will The Lomax or The McCarthys advance to post-season play? That’s up to you.

The Lomax: “Barely Getting By“

The McCarthys: “Foolish Heart“

About Clash of the Tinys…

Every Friday, The Bollard selects and posts two songs by Maine musicians or bands. You have a week to vote for your favorite using the Polldaddy thingy above. There are also links to hear each song. You can only vote once per poll. We’ll announce each week’s winner in the proceeding poll. Then, early next year, the winning songs will go head to head in a series of sudden-death playoffs, until we’re down to just two. Those two acts will face off live on stage, and then we’ll start another series of Clashes. (If a finalist is a band that is not currently playing shows, the hope is that the prospect of winning this Clash will compel a reunion.)
