CLASH OF THE TINYS
Round 10: Gully vs. Honey Clouds
The shit’s gettin’ serious now. The 10th round of the Clash pits two of Portland’s best-loved, recently defunct indie-rock bands against each other.
Gully bashed out an album-and-a-half’ worth of slop-rock before apparently disintegrating in a hungover haze of cigarette smoke. “Buckets” comes from their 2010 EP Gregory, most of which is not suitable for mainstream radio play. Honey Clouds produced two solid full-length studio albums before they blew apart, but for this match-up we’ve picked the rough version of “Living Room” that appeared on their 2008 release, Earl Grey Demos, recorded at their practice space.
In Round 9, Dirigo bested the band that begot them, The Coming Grass, dashing any hopes that the prospect of appearing in the live Clash of the Tinys final round would convince the Grass to reconvene. Will a strong run by either of these bands inspire a reunion show next year? Only one way to find out… vote below!

About Clash of the Tinys…
Every Friday (except last week, when we forgot), The Bollard selects and posts two songs by Maine musicians or bands. You have a week to vote for your favorite using the Polldaddy thingy above. There are also links to hear each song. You can only vote once per poll. We’ll announce each week’s winner in the proceeding poll. Then, early next year, the winning songs will go head to head in a series of sudden-death playoffs, until we’re down to just two. Those two acts will face off live on stage, and then we’ll start another series of Clashes. (If a finalist is a band that is not currently playing shows, the hope is that the prospect of winning this Clash will compel a reunion.)
