Round 4: The Kenya Hall Band vs. Sly-Chi
Funk fight!
Two of Portland’s most soulful, groovin’ combos go at it this week: The Kenya Hall Band and Sly-Chi. Sly-Chi has been gigging around here so long the band’s become an institution. “Move This Way” comes from their late 2009 EP Seven in the Shadows. Kenya Hall and the boys are relative newcomers, having just a few years of local funkiness on their resume. “Can We Go Back” comes from the band’s full length album of late 2010, Learning for Miles, vol. 1.
