This month, Mad Horse Theater is presenting Spring Awakening, the early 20th-century play about the sexual enlightenment (and confusion) of a group of German teens. The script of the play, which was banned in New York after just one night in 1917, has been translated by novelist Jonathan Franzen, who’s preserved and sharpened all the comedy and edginess of the original. It opened at Lucid Stage (29 Baxter Blvd., Portland) on May 5 and continues through today’s 2 p.m. performance. Tix: $20 ($18 students and seniors). 899-3993. lucidstage.com.
