Bollard art director, comedian and emcee extraordinaire The Fuge is celebrating a birthday tonight, and the mind-bending alt-metal ensemble Confusatron is again helping to mark the occasion by playing the soundtrack to an installment of Star Wars. This year it’s The Empire Strikes Back. The candles (and the crowd) get lit at Geno’s (625 Congress St., Portland) at 9 p.m. Call 221-2382. For cover (21+). And over at the Institute of Contemporary Art at Maine College of Art (522 Congress St.), it’s the opening reception for the MECA Spring 2011 Graduate Thesis Exhibition, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Free. The exhibit continues through June 12. 699-5029. meca.edu.
