Re: Figgy DiBenedetto’s Sichuan Kitchen review: The correct phrase is “full rein,” not “full reign.” “Full rein” refers to having complete freedom of action or control, while “full reign” is incorrect.
The word “rein” in this context comes from the straps used to control a horse. “Free rein” means having complete freedom, as if the reins are loose and the horse can go where it wants.
