The current exhibit at PhoPa Gallery (132 Washington Ave., Portland), Evangeline: A Modern Tale of Acadia, is like a mash-up of That’s My Dump! and fine-art landscape photography. Mark Marchesi’s images document the deterioration of Nova Scotia’s rural Western Shore, the beloved land of the original Acadians, with inspiration from Longfellow’s epic poem “Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie.” It’s on view through Jan. 14, and there’ll be a reception on Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. Open today from noon to 5 p.m. 517-0200. phopagallery.com.
