Even if we weren’t the proud media sponsor of this year’s Dam Jam in Denmark’s Bicentennial Park, we’d highlight this music and art festival. It’s got a trio of headliners — the Akwaaba Ensemble of West African musicians and dancers, Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra (a raucous freak-folk spin-off of Godspeed You! Black Emperor) and alt-rock genre-hoppers Deerhoof — plus local standouts like the indie-pop Sunset Hearts and punk-folkies Butcher Boy. Throw in cool art, good food and beer, stuff for kids to do, and a reasonable ticket price: $12-$15; $25 includes a bus ride to and from the park leaving SPACE Gallery (538 Congress St., Portland) at 3 p.m. and returning by midnight. thedamjam.com.
