The documentary Return to Homs, winner of a prestigious prize at Sundance this year, follows the story of the Syrian national soccer team’s goalie as he morphs into a protest singer and, joined by a media-activist friend, eventually embraces militarism in the aftermath of the destruction of Homs by President Assad’s forces. It shows at SPACE Gallery (538 Congress St., Portland) at 7:30 p.m., followed by a discussion. Tix: $8 (all ages). 828-5600. space538.org.
