The 10th annual Maine Playwrights Festival begins a series of performances of 10 short plays by Mainers tonight at the St. Lawrence Arts Center (76 Congress St., Portland). Each work will be performed four times, and again during a marathon show on April 29. This is followed the next day by the 24-Hour Portland Theater Project, in which five playwrights give new scripts to five directors and a group of actors a day before they are to present it to an audience.
